I hate mobile phones!

Actually, the title isn't exactly true; it's not the phones I hate but other people who have them! Mobile phones [cell phones] are so ubiquitous these days. I’ve had one for years; my Mother played hell when I first got one saying what a waste of money it was. Some 6 months later, I got a call from an unknown number only to find Mother on the other end speaking from her new mobile! Like most of us, I couldn’t be without it now even though I hate the particular smart phone I’ve had for around a year now (I can’t wait till the summer when I can upgrade it)!

Having said that, mobiles have created a whole new level of rudeness and anti-social behaviour. There are the idiots who shout so loudly into their phone they may as well just yell their conversation directly at the recipient. And here in the UK we have the Chavs who play their crap Hip-Hop music out of the tinny loudspeakers of their cheap and crappy (and probably stolen) mobile phones so everyone can enjoy their lack of taste in music and consideration for others!

The other thing about mobiles that winds me up is when I’m talking to customers at work, explaining how to resolve some computer problem or going through my sales spiel when their mobile rings and our conversation is abruptly and rudely terminated:

”Sorry, I have to take this ... What do you mean, they only have red, I wanted blue socks ...”or some other triviality. They then get most disgruntled when they expect me to have been waiting for their conversation to have finished and find me dealing with someone else! I think this cartoon sums it up!
